      Hello Shane,
From your comment I get that you are a user of Dartfish's PC Software as well as of the Dartfish Express app.

In the Software it is still possible to send a Mediabook with Dartviewer either by email or by sending the Dartviewer to yourself by email and distributing both that and the Mediabook by memory stick, file sharing service etc.

So you could continue to use that, but Dartfish.tv is such a huge improvement on the old Dartviewer Mediabook. I guess that you are finding that improvement, plus the convenience of analysis from an app means you find yourself using your phone more often than your PC these days... and this is where I don't follow your argument because you are getting way more for way less than you used to pay for software. Even if you do the maths differently, $20 per month for three months is still a fraction of the cost of the most basic Dartfish software.

Your $60 subscription is making distribution and sharing of your video easier. It is freeing up space on your phone by giving you video streaming from your cloud storage. It is keeping all your devices in sync so that you can access and use video without download. It is insurance against not losing videos when your device is lost or stolen.

For all that we feel that the $60 subscription fee is not only justified but represents good value for money AND what you get for that continues to improve all the time.

You may also be interested to know that most recently we have added a new PC software called myDartfish 360. It is bridging the gap between what can be done an an app and what can be done with software. The subscription which includes that costs a little more but again, it still costs substantially less than the software you own today.

I'd like to finish by saying thank you for being a Dartfish user and continuing to do so. You may pay for our products differently from how you used to but you are paying less and getting more. What's not to like?

Dartfish SupportAdminDartfish Support (Support, Dartfish) commented  ·

Thanks for your suggestion - I need a little clarification please...

You say that you want to transfer *analyzed* videos. Does this mean that you want to be able to view them in Dartfish software? I ask because the only way to view a Dartfish Express analysis is to view in on the app or on dartfish.tv. Ultimately we will also have a way to view Express analysis in Dartfish software, but we are not there yet.

The app does not render analysis videos but if all you want to get are the videos without the still shot. You can do this by exporting to the camera roll and then transferring them by wired or wireless connection.

Does this meet your need or are you looking for something else?

Christophe, Go to the Express feedback page http://feedback.dartfish.tv/forums/174647-dartfish-express then you'll see a space for a new suggestion somewhere to the top of the page.

Dartfish SupportAdminDartfish Support (Support, Dartfish) commented  ·

Christophe, this is worthy of a new feature request because I think what you are saying is rather than exporting videos from the Express library to the SD card, you want your Express library to be on your SD card. Go right ahead and create the new feature request if you like but the development team are aware of the requirement, and although it hasn't yet made it onto the product road map, it is under consideration.

A nice idea Julia… but one that we must decline, for the present at any rate.
App buyers expects to only pay a few dollars which makes it tricky to develop features which won’t appeal to a mass market.
Perhaps in the future, nobody will use PCs anymore and the app market will then become more diverse?
You may find that your camera offers a remote monitoring app which allows recordings to be made. Those recordings can then be imported into Dartfish Express.

Hello Julia, sorry to have been too quick in my response but rest assured that I checked with the head of the development team for the feasibility of this and there was just a "perfect storm" of both of us having idle time at our computers to provide a quick answer. Consider it good service for a valued customer!
Without gazing into crystal balls too far ahead, one can envisage other factors which might drive the creation of capture from IP cameras. For example, the World's great sports institutes, such as the EIS, requiring such a feature and being willing to pay for an app that would allow them to do it.
Another expectation of App users is that they are simple enough to be used with no assistance. On this point, one of the benefits for developers of developing for iOS and one reason why we don't yet have an Android version for Express, is being able to control the hardware spec used. Once you start to factor in external hardware, such as IP cameras, the time and cost taken to support users (who may feel aggrieved that the solution doesn't just work without support).

That's why I was confidently able to give you a quick response BUT neither Serge nor I would rule out Dartfish taking its existing expertise developed for Dartfish software and applying it to an app. We simply cannot say if or when at this stage.

I'll change the status of your suggestion and lets see what other feedback we get.

            Regards

"How do I set my dartfrish account to automatically delete videos......?"

As Kirstin's request suggests, there is currently no way to set videos or collections to automatically delete. However you CAN set a time limit on a subscription such that access is stopped after a specified date.

That is done when you share a collection via the dartfish.tv admin pages.
Admin > Sharing > click collection > Share...

It strikes me that what is missing is a way to build this expiry in when a personal collection is created. This is not part of the settings that you can define on your personal collections template. I have therefore added a new feature request for this. You can find the link below and vote for it if you like.

Do you have a specific camera in mind?
We already considered the possibility of the GoPro streaming direct to our Desktop software but didn't pursue it because the streaming from the GoPro is intended for monitoring what the camera is seeing and not really for recording. Consequently the resolution is very low (432 x 240?) - fine for checking that the camera is framing the image correctly but lousy once you want to put it on a bigger screen or zoom in.
I just re-reviewed the GoPro website and that still seems to be correct.

Hello Julia. You are correct… access to dartfish.tv is granted by collection and not by individual video and changing that would be a huge job. I wonder if your external software would allow you to embed the video instead – that way they have no link back to the original content.

Although I understand why it is not optimal in your case, there are normally big advantages to sharing by collection because sharing one link gives access to all relevant content – not just in that collection, but across the whole channel. Furthermore, the athlete will be notified whenever new content becomes available to him/her.

If I were you, I would do this:
                  1) Get all your athlete names and email addresses in a spreadsheet and bulk add them as channel members
                  2) Select all these members and add a personal collection (remember to define personal collections settings FIRST)…

                  Hi Julia,
Yes, the video would be stored on dftv but the videos are embedded on another page - this is how I create the tutorials on our support site and rather than copying and pasting the full embed code, I am simply copying the reference number for the video from its URL into a template embed code. This makes it quite efficient to use many times.

I'll give you a call to see if I can offer a better solution but it isn't leaping out at me right now. I need to better understand what your other website is doing for you.

Thanks for the clarification. So, the process that Dartfish is developing for what you propose is via your free dartfish.tv channel. There are a number of developments underway that will facilitate this:
                    1) Next week v2.1 will allow download from dartfish.tv direct to Express
                    2) End sept further improvment to Dartfish.tv will extend what can be done directly from an iPhone and iPad
                    3) Bulk upload to dartfish.tv is planned (likely next release)

A possible workflow for you will be this:
                    1) Record on Express
                    2) Bulk upload of your Express analysis to dartfish.tv
                    2) Coach downloads to their computer or to their own copy of Dartfish Express where they can benefit from its features

You are the athlete in this scenario but for the coach doing the same thing, the possibilities are even more powerful because his full analysis can be transferred from his mobile device to his athletes'... with all his comments and drawings retained.

I guess we could add a bulk export feature but we really want you to adopt our vision of remote coaching the Dartfish Express way. Please try it and let us know how it works for you.

Thanks for the explanation. We have had a few Dartfish users requesting InTheAction functionality, and of course we can see the value, but unfortunately this isn't part of our vision for Express. An app has to stay simpler than desktop software but perhaps we should create an InTheAction app in the future.

Thank your for your feedback Justin.

We know that the mobile application has some limitation for the moment (no comment, no attachment, no sharing, etc). For the release of end of October 2012, it will be possible to view key positions drawings on mobile devices. This is a first step. We need then to think on how to improve user experience on mobile platforms. Viewing comment is certainly part of it.

                            Thank you for this feedback.
The integration of our software, apps and dartfish.tv is key to us. This will be one of the main focus for the coming year. So, yes, we are carefully considering the ability to import Dartfish Express videos and metadata into our software editions (and vice-versa). We will keep you posted of our progress.
